10 Mar, 2010 [05:06 PM]
A student of IIM-Kolkata has broken all records by bagging a job offer of an unprecedented Rs 1.6 crore. Pay packages across prestigious institutions in India are getting fatter this year, but this IIM-C student has hit the jackpot, and how!

The concerned student will be serving a global investment bank in South East Asia at an annual pay package of Rs 1.6 crore. Meanwhile, two other students will be joining investment banks in London at an annual salary of Rs 1 crore.

This year IIM Calcutta secured 91 largest firms offering best salaries on Day 1 and 2 of recruitment. The highest domestic package bagged by an IIM-C student is more than Rs 60 lakh annually for an Investment bank's Mumbai office.

Records were broken this year even in Delhi University with Sriram College of Commerce and St Stephens college in Delhi securing the highest ever salary package of Rs 32 lakh each.

Around 500 students of Delhi University have secured jobs in a recruitment drive in the campus that ended on Tuesday.

In the three sessions held by the Central Placement Cell of the university, a total of 500 students have been selected for jobs in various companies.

However, the student turnout this time was less in comparison to the previous sessions where daily turnout was as high as 2000 from 58 colleges and various departments.

Sixty students have already been offered jobs and another 310 shortlisted in the last two sessions participated by companies like MIE, HCL and HDFC, a release by the university said.

Companies like Gandhi Fellowship, Wipro, HDFC, Genpact, Tech Mahindra, Aakash Institue, NDPL, Exchange, MIE, Capital IQ, Pravah, Indicorp, Dell and NewsX also participated in the drive.
