Chandlok becomes 2nd Indian to race F1 2010-03-04 [18:27:55 hrs] | | Following the footsteps of Narain Karthikeyan, Karun Chandhok became the second Indian driver to race in the Formula One when he signed a one-year deal with Hispania Racing (HRT F1) on Thursday.
At a formal launch, the Campos Formula 1 team was renamed Hispania Racing (HRT F1) after being taken over by Spanish financier Jose Ramon Carabante.
Besides Chandhok, Brazilian Bruno Senna, nephew of three-time world champion Ayrton Senna, would also take to the wheels for the Murcia (Spain) based team.
Chandhok had won two GP2 races in three years in the category, and was Bruno Senna's team-mate in the iSport team in 2008, when the Brazilian narrowly missed out on winning the GP2 championship.
Karthikeyan had drove in 19 races for Jordan in 2005.
