Post Office money looted in Sonarpur, Barasat

Police office money has been looted in separate incidents in North and South 24 Pargannas respectively. In Sonarpur police station under South 24 Pargannas, Rs 40 lakhs transaction money belonging to the post office was being kept. This morning, a constable Sujit Haldar and post office worker Brindabon Ram were carrying the amount to the nearby post office when they were attacked.

Miscreants opened fire on the duo, before taking off with the cash. Haldar and Ram both sustained bullet injuries. The two are being brought to a Calcutta hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a similar incident took place in Barasat’s Nopara under North 24 Pargannas. Miscreants reportedly broke into the post office locker and took off with their loot. The exact amount taken and other details about the incident are awaited.
