Mamata suggests solution to Singur deadlock 2008-08-31 [17:49:12 hrs] | | | Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said members of agitating group will meet the Governor on Sunday to press shifting of Tata Motors' ancillary units close to the Nano project site to end the deadlock in Singur. |

Everything will be settled if the ancillary units are relocated to the land on the opposite side of the small car unit," Banerjee said from her dharna platform, a day after Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi sent a her letter asking her to call the eight-day long stir.
Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi had sent a two-page letter to Mamata on Saturday night. The letter is said to contain a list of advisories on how to resolve the crisis.
A delegation of the Krishijami Jiban-o-Jibika Rokha Committee, which is spearheading the movement for return of the land, would inform the Governor of the decision on Sunday.
"We sought time from the Governor at 3 PM," Banerjee said.
Meanwhile, in Kolkata, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattarcharjee will convene another all-party meeting in the next few days.
Two days after the Kolkata High Court ordered the National Highways Authority of India to peacefully clear the blockade on National Highway 2, the Industry Minister of the state Nirupam Sen said that government will cooperate to remove the blockade.
Work at the Tata Motors' Plant remains suspended for the third day now. "We are ready to provide all assistance to NHAI for removing the National Highway blockade," he said. | |
